Apple Mail

1. Start Apple Mail and select the message of interest.
2. Go to the “View” menu and select “Message” and then “Long Headers.”
3. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Entourage

1. While in Entourage, open the email you want to view full headers on by double-clicking it so that it opens in a new window.
2. Click View on the Entourage menu bar at the top of the screen.
3. Select Internet Headers.
4. The full headers are displayed above the message.
5. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Eudora

1. Start Eudora and double-click the message to view (headers only available for incoming mail) .
2. Click the “blah blah blah” button directly above the message to expand the headers.
3. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Google Mail (Gmail)

1. Log in to Gmail.
2. Open the message you’d like to view headers for.
3. Click the down arrow next to Reply, at the top-right of the message pane.
4. Select Show original.
5. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Mozilla Thunderbird

1. Start Mozilla Thunderbird.
2. Go to the “View” menu and select “Message Source”.  A new window will appear with the detailed message header information.
3. Go to Edit,  in the new windows, select “Select All” which will mark the text of the window, then select copy.
4. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

MS Outlook 2007

1. Start MS Outlook and open message.
2. Go to the “Message”  tab and in the “Options” group click on “Dialog Box Launcher”
3. In the “Message Options” dialog box, the headers should appear in the Internet headers box.
4. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

MS Outlook 2003

1. Start MS Outlook 2003 and double-click the message to get it in its own window.
2. Go to the “View” menu and select “Options.”
3. Right-click in the “Internet Headers” box and choose “Select All.”
4. Right-click again in the “Internet Headers” box and choose “Copy.”
5. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

MS Outlook Express

1. Start MS Outlook Express and double-click the message for display in its own window.
2. Go to the “File” menu and select “Properties.”
3. Click the “Details” tab to view the header.
4. Right-click in the “Internet Headers” box and choose “Select All.”
5. Right-click again in the “Internet Headers” box and choose “Copy.”
6. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Pine

To set up Pine to view full headers:
1. Launch Pine and type M to go to main menu, then S to enter the setup screen, and C to configure features.
2. Press the space bar to page down until you see: [] enable-full-header-cmd
3. Cursor down to this and type X to set.
4. Type E to exit and then Y to accept changes.
5. Now, when viewing the message of interest, type H to view the full headers.
6. Paste the copied text into a reply to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.

Webmail

To view full headers in webmail:

  1. Open the e-mail in webmail.
  2. To the far right of the “Delete” and “Reply” buttons, find “Headers”.
  3. Scroll over “Headers” and then click “Show all headers”
  4. Highlight the entire e-mail including all the headers and copy the text into a replay to your ticket. If you do not already have a ticket open, please e-mail the copied text to the helpdesk@rice.edu.
